Mushtaq Bhutto detained in Karachi

Mushtaq Bhutto, cousin and former adviser of late Pakistan Peoples’s Party chairperson and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was detained in Karachi today .

Law enforcement agencies conducted a raid in Gulistan-e-Jauhar where Bhutto was then rounded up though no reasons have been given yet for his detention.

“It was around 1:45 am when bhai sahib [Mushtaq] and his family had returned from a wedding,” his younger brother Iqbal Bhutto told The Express Tribune.

“He was taken into custody while he was parking the car in the apartment parking lot. He was accompanied by his family members,” he added.

This is not the first time Mushtaq has had a brush with law enforcement as had been previously detained in November 2015 too.

According to his brother Iqbal Bhutto , Mushtaq was taken in the custody of Rangers .

This is the second time that Mushtaq has been detained by the law-enforcement agencies. He was also in November 2015.

PPP leaders said they were also trying to trace Mushtaq’s whereabouts.

Mushtaq is a resident of Basera Apartments in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and has been inactive in the party since the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
