{"id":12360,"date":"2025-02-01T16:23:38","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T11:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=12360"},"modified":"2025-02-01T16:23:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T11:23:38","slug":"pcb-announces-15-member-squad-for-icc-champions-trophy-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=12360","title":{"rendered":"PCB Announces 15-Member Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with four players making a return to the team.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This squad will also participate in the upcoming tri-nation ODI series to be held in Karachi and Lahore, which will include New Zealand and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-player squad has undergone four changes, with the returning players having last played in the ODI series in South Africa last year.<\/p>\n<p>Due to poor form, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Irfan Khan (due to lack of experience), Sufyan Maqeem, and Saeem Ayub (due to injury) have missed out on a spot in the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Replacing them are all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, opener Fakhar Zaman, middle-order batter Khushdil Shah, and Test team vice-captain Saud Shakil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faheem Ashraf<\/strong><br \/>\nFaheem Ashraf last played an ODI match for Pakistan on September 11, 2023, against arch-rivals India in the Asia Cup, where Pakistan faced a crushing defeat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fakhar Zaman<\/strong><br \/>\nAggressive opener Fakhar Zaman last played an ODI against England on November 11, 2023, during the ICC World Cup 2023, after which he was dropped from the squad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khushdil Shah<\/strong><br \/>\nMiddle-order batter Khushdil Shah played his last match for Pakistan on October 7, 2023, and has since struggled to find a place in the squad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saud Shakil<\/strong><br \/>\nTest vice-captain Saud Shakil last played in the ICC World Cup 2023 against England on November 11, 2023, and has not made it to the ODI squad since then.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with four players making a return to the team.
