India\u2019s two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra issued a clarification regarding the controversy that arose after he invited Pakistan\u2019s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem to the upcoming ‘Neeraj Chopra Classic’ in Bengaluru.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chopra explained that the invitation was extended two days before the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and was solely aimed at promoting sports.<\/p>\n

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Neeraj wrote, \u201cI usually don\u2019t speak much, but that doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019ll remain silent when something is wrong. Questioning my love for my country or my family\u2019s dignity is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

He clarified that the invitation to Arshad Nadeem was a gesture from one athlete to another, to organize a world-class competition in India. \u201cAll athletes were sent invitations two days before the Pahalgam incident. Yet, the wave of criticism and hate directed at me and my family is deeply saddening,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Neeraj emphasized that the situation changed drastically after the Pahalgam attack, and now Arshad Nadeem\u2019s participation is no longer possible. \u201cMy country and its interests will always come first. I pray for all those who have lost their loved ones.
