{"id":14517,"date":"2025-06-20T17:04:18","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T12:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=14517"},"modified":"2025-06-20T17:04:18","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T12:04:18","slug":"prime-minister-directs-leasing-of-ships-to-expand-pnsc-fleet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=14517","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Directs Leasing of Ships to Expand PNSC Fleet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"536\" data-end=\"763\"><strong>Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the leasing of ships to expand the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) fleet in order to ease the burden of $4 billion on the national exchequer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"765\" data-end=\"897\">A review meeting on the affairs of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"899\" data-end=\"1113\">During the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that due to the shortage of ships in the PNSC fleet, valuable foreign exchange amounting to $4 billion is being spent annually on sea trade from the national exchequer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1309\">The Prime Minister directed that a business plan for PNSC should be presented within two weeks, which must include a strategy to eliminate the annual $4 billion burden on the national exchequer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1507\">During a briefing on the performance of PNSC, the Prime Minister was informed that the corporation currently possesses 10 ships of various types, which have a total cargo capacity of 724,643 tons.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1509\" data-end=\"1680\">Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Iqbal Cheema, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and senior PNSC officials also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the leasing of ships to expand the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) fleet in order to ease the burden of $4 billion on the national exchequer.
