Pakistan will assume the presidency of the United Nations Security Council next month, in July. During this time, Pakistan\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, will perform the duties of the president.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Asim Iftikhar met with UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, where he briefed him on the framework related to the presidency. He clarified that he is committed to carrying out this responsibility in an open, transparent, and consultative manner.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar also reaffirmed full support for the Secretary-General\u2019s efforts in multilateral diplomacy, establishing global peace, and preventing conflicts.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, addressing a session of the Security Council, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar highlighted the dire condition of children in Gaza and Indian-occupied Kashmir. He stated that violence against children during armed conflicts has increased to a cruel extent. He added that on May 6 and 7 alone, 15 innocent children were martyred due to Indian aggression.<\/p>\n

He also called for a full and transparent investigation into India\u2019s serious violations. Responding to the Indian statement, Pakistan\u2019s Second Secretary Rabia Ijaz said that India is once again resorting to a distorted narrative and denial.
