{"id":14797,"date":"2025-07-07T14:59:57","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T09:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=14797"},"modified":"2025-07-07T14:59:57","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T09:59:57","slug":"ppps-former-minister-abdul-sattar-bachani-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=14797","title":{"rendered":"PPP&#8217;s former minister Abdul Sattar Bachani passes away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former provincial minister Haji Abdul Sattar Bachani passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Karachi after a prolonged illness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abdul Sattar Bachani, father of sitting Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Zulfiqar Sattar Bachani, was a pivotal figure in Sindh\u2019s political landscape and a close companion of former Prime Ministers Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his unmatched political acumen and deal-making skills, Bachani remained an influential figure in provincial and national politics for decades.<\/p>\n<p>His funeral prayers will be held today after Asr prayers outside the Darul Uloom madrassa, and he will be laid to rest at the Kunda Wasi Graveyard in Tando Allahyar.<\/p>\n<p>Haji Abdul Sattar Bachani had a distinguished political career. Since 1977, he had served as both a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh (MPA).<\/p>\n<p>He also held the position of PPP Hyderabad Division President and remained a core strategist in party affairs. His wife had also served as an MNA in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Due to his active role during the MRD (Movement for the Restoration of Democracy), Bachani had been sentenced to flogging under General Zia ul Haq&#8217;s martial law.<\/p>\n<p>Born on August 13, 1950, Bachani was elected to the National Assembly in 2013 from NA-223 (Tando Allahyar-cum-Matiari) as a PPP candidate, defeating PML-N\u2019s Rahila Gul Magsi by securing over 91,000 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Widely regarded as the uncrowned king of Tando Allahyar\u2019s politics, his death marks the end of an era in Sindh\u2019s political history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former provincial minister Haji Abdul Sattar Bachani passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Karachi after a prolonged illness.
