A major portion of a busy road in Shanghai, China, suddenly collapsed after the ground split open, creating a large sinkhole and disrupting traffic in the area.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A video of the alarming incident has gone viral on social media, showing how, within moments of the ground cracking, a significant section of the road sank into the earth, leaving behind a deep and wide crater.<\/p>\n

According to international media reports, the incident reportedly occurred on the morning of February 12 at the intersection of Kexin Road and Lian Road in Shanghai\u2019s Minhang District, where regular traffic movement was underway at the time.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that the collapse took place due to water inflow during shield tunneling work for a new Xiamen Metro line at Kexin Road Station, which weakened the ground structure and led to the road caving in.<\/p>\n

Media sources stated that construction work at the site was being carried out by contractors from China Railway Tunnel Group, and authorities are expected to determine the exact cause after a detailed investigation.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, all roads leading to the Kexin Road and Lian Road intersection were immediately closed to prevent any further danger and to facilitate repair work.<\/p>\n

Initial reports confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far, while authorities continue to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.<\/p>\n
