The Sindh government has taken major decisions to modernize and expand the public transport system across the province, focusing on improving travel facilities, introducing new routes, and launching special initiatives for women, with plans to accelerate implementation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A high-level meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was held under the Transport and Mass Transit Department, attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, Peoples Bus Service Project Director Sohaib Shafique, and other senior officials, where detailed discussions were held on various projects.<\/p>\n

It was decided in the meeting that the Peoples Bus Service from Sukkur to Shikarpur will be formally launched in the coming week, providing relief to thousands of commuters, while in the next phase, routes from Khairpur to Rohri and Khairpur to Ranipur will also be introduced.<\/p>\n

Sharjeel Memon stated that after Karachi, pink scooters will soon be distributed to women in Sukkur and Hyderabad, terming it a significant step toward women\u2019s empowerment and safe mobility.<\/p>\n

He further said that special planning is underway for Hyderabad, with Peoples Bus Service to be launched soon on routes from Hyder Chowk to Kohsar and Hyderabad to Tando Allahyar, while more buses will be added to the system in the next fiscal year, expanding services across various districts.<\/p>\n

He added that new routes will also be introduced in Karachi to meet the demands of its growing population and reduce commuting pressure.<\/p>\n

The meeting also approved the purchase of electric, hybrid, and double-decker buses for the next fiscal year, while agreeing to expand the transport network across Sindh to promote a modern and environmentally friendly system.<\/p>\n

He said that work is progressing rapidly on charging stations and related infrastructure for the launch of electric taxi and women-specific taxi services, and all formalities are expected to be completed by the end of this month.<\/p>\n

He concluded that the electric taxi service will soon be available to the public, creating employment opportunities and providing improved transportation facilities.<\/p>\n
