{"id":22245,"date":"2026-06-12T14:53:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T09:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=22245"},"modified":"2026-06-12T14:53:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T09:53:45","slug":"mqm-delegation-meets-prime-minister-agrees-on-rs25-billion-development-package-for-karachi-and-hyderabad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=22245","title":{"rendered":"MQM Delegation Meets Prime Minister, Agrees on Rs25 Billion Development Package for Karachi and Hyderabad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has agreed in principle to a special development package for Karachi and Hyderabad following discussions with a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to sources, the MQM delegation met the prime minister to discuss budget proposals, local government reforms and other political matters concerning Sindh.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation included Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal, Amin Ul Haque and Javed Hanif.<\/p>\n<p>Senior government officials, including Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attaullah Tarar, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said the prime minister agreed to a Rs20 billion development package for Karachi and a Rs5 billion package for Hyderabad, bringing the total package to Rs25 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also included discussions on a proposed constitutional amendment related to local governments and the issue of the Sindh governorship.<\/p>\n<p>Government representatives reportedly assured MQM that consultations would be held with the Pakistan Peoples Party regarding the proposed constitutional amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed support for MQM\u2019s proposed constitutional amendment bill and pledged continued cooperation on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has agreed in principle to a special development package for Karachi and Hyderabad following discussions with a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan.
