A private cargo aircraft travelling from Sharjah to Karachi went missing while flying over the sea near Karachi, with five crew members on board.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed that communication with the private cargo aircraft was lost during the flight.<\/p>\n

According to the PAA, K2 Airways cargo flight KTA1732, a Boeing 737-400 registered as AP-BOI, was travelling from Sharjah to Karachi.<\/p>\n

At 9:18pm, while flying on airway G216 around 150 miles south of Karachi, the aircraft reported a navigation system malfunction and requested heading guidance.<\/p>\n

The aircraft was instructed to maintain its current direction. However, it was later observed turning to the right and rapidly losing altitude.<\/p>\n

Officials said the aircraft was descending at a rate of 15,000 feet. Multiple attempts were made to contact the plane, but no response was received.<\/p>\n

At 9:21pm, the aircraft disappeared from radar around 155 nautical miles west of Karachi, with radar and communication contact lost simultaneously.<\/p>\n

The PAA spokesperson said Karachi ACC immediately provided guidance after the aircraft reported a navigation system malfunction, but the plane suddenly descended rapidly and changed direction.<\/p>\n

An air traffic controller said the pilot did not issue a Mayday call in the final communication, suggesting the crew may not have had enough time to send an emergency distress signal.<\/p>\n

Sources said the aircraft had travelled to Sharjah for repairs following a technical fault and remained there for five days.<\/p>\n

The aircraft was returning to Karachi as a ferry flight with no cargo on board.<\/p>\n

According to sources, repairs in Sharjah were carried out by a company named Northern Techniques.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, the Rescue Coordination Centre was immediately activated and a search and rescue operation was launched at sea.<\/p>\n

Pakistan Navy warships PNS Zulfiquar and PNS Hunain have been dispatched to the affected area.<\/p>\n

Sources said a Pakistan Air Force Saab aircraft is also participating in the search operation, while a Pakistan Navy ATR aircraft has joined the mission after flying from Turbat.<\/p>\n

Commercial vessels of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation have also been deployed for the search and rescue operation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
