Karachi’s water transmission system has been affected after a power outage at the Dhabeji Pumping Station disrupted operations of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The disruption has raised concerns over a possible reduction of around 100 million gallons per day in water supply to Karachi.<\/p>\n

According to a KWSC spokesperson, the power suspension affected the K-2 pump house, causing technical faults in the main fold chamber and central valves.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said work to remove accumulated water from the affected valves is underway on an urgent basis, after which repair work will immediately begin.<\/p>\n

Technical teams of the water corporation have been directed to carry out emergency repairs, while engineers and maintenance staff are present at the site.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, teams are working to resolve the technical fault and restore the water supply as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Three major pumps at the K-2 pumping station have been temporarily shut down due to the technical fault.<\/p>\n
