{"id":23302,"date":"2026-08-10T14:15:55","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T09:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23302"},"modified":"2026-08-10T14:15:55","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T09:15:55","slug":"azad-kashmir-elections-polling-under-way-in-four-constituencies-during-third-phase-of-voting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23302","title":{"rendered":"Azad Kashmir elections: Polling under way in four constituencies during third phase of voting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Polling is under way in four constituencies of the districts of Bagh and Haveli as part of the third phase of the 2026 Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following changes to the election schedule, voting is taking place in three constituencies in Bagh and one in Haveli, while elections in five constituencies in Poonch and two in Sudhnoti have been postponed.<\/p>\n<p>Polling began at 8am and will continue without interruption until 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>The constituencies are considered politically significant, as former prime ministers Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, along with Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Rathore, are among the leading candidates contesting the elections.<\/p>\n<p>According to the chief election commissioner, around 460,000 voters are expected to cast their ballots, while comprehensive security arrangements have also been put in place.<\/p>\n<p>In the first phase of the elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz won nine out of 13 seats in the Mirpur division, while the Pakistan Peoples Party secured four seats.<\/p>\n<p>During the second phase, the PML-N won 15 seats, while the PPP secured six seats across the Muzaffarabad division and refugee constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the PML-N has emerged as the leading party with 24 seats in the 45 member assembly, followed by the PPP with 10 seats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Polling is under way in four constituencies of the districts of Bagh and Haveli as part of the third phase of the 2026 Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections.
