{"id":23343,"date":"2026-08-13T13:18:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T08:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23343"},"modified":"2026-08-13T13:18:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T08:18:33","slug":"goods-transporters-strike-enters-sixth-day-after-talks-with-government-fail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23343","title":{"rendered":"Goods transporters&#8217; strike enters sixth day after talks with government fail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Talks between goods transporters and the federal and provincial governments have failed, pushing the nationwide strike into its sixth day, with transporters announcing that the protest will continue indefinitely until their demands are addressed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Goods Transporters President Nabeel Mahmood Tariq said negotiations with the government had reached a deadlock as authorities were unwilling to end daily changes in diesel prices, leaving transporters with no option but to continue the strike for an indefinite period.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Geo News by telephone, Nabeel Mahmood Tariq said negotiations had failed due to what he described as the government&#8217;s inflexible approach.<\/p>\n<p>He said the government was also unwilling to reduce toll taxes or maintain the existing rates for at least one year. He added that authorities had offered only minor concessions regarding customs and load axle regulations, which were unacceptable to the transporters.<\/p>\n<p>Nabeel Mahmood Tariq said the government was not properly assessing the negative impact of the goods transport strike on the country&#8217;s economy, adding that authorities would realise the seriousness of the situation within the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>The prolonged strike has also disrupted the transportation of vegetables and fruits across different parts of the country, resulting in an upward trend in prices.<\/p>\n<p>In Balochistan, prices of several food items, including chicken, have increased due to disruptions caused by the strike.<\/p>\n<p>In Quetta, the price of chicken meat has risen from Rs500 per kilogramme to Rs550 per kilogramme.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the transportation of vegetables in Karachi is continuing through smaller vehicles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Talks between goods transporters and the federal and provincial governments have failed, pushing the nationwide strike into its sixth day, with transporters announcing that the protest will continue indefinitely until their demands are addressed.
