{"id":23358,"date":"2026-08-17T12:50:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T07:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23358"},"modified":"2026-08-17T12:50:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T07:50:14","slug":"gulf-allies-grow-frustrated-with-trump-over-iran-war-reconsider-hosting-us-military-bases-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23358","title":{"rendered":"Gulf allies grow frustrated with Trump over Iran war, reconsider hosting US military bases: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington: Gulf allies are becoming increasingly frustrated with US President Donald Trump over what they see as a failure to pursue effective diplomacy to end the US Iran war, with some countries also reconsidering whether to continue hosting American military bases on their territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post, citing Arab, European and US officials, reported that the governments of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain are increasingly uneasy and frustrated with the Trump administration&#8217;s approach.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Washington&#8217;s Gulf allies are concerned that President Trump has failed to effectively advance the diplomatic process needed to reach peace with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post reported that the situation has prompted several Gulf countries to begin considering whether they should continue hosting US military bases on their territory or reassess the existing arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Three current officials and a former US diplomat told the newspaper that after months of war and repeated missile and drone attacks by Iran and its allied groups, a debate has emerged in some Gulf states over how beneficial it remains to host major US military bases.<\/p>\n<p>According to the newspaper, a senior official from one Gulf country said that Trump started the war while Gulf countries were paying the price for it.<\/p>\n<p>The report said Gulf states still consider Washington a close security partner and a major supplier of weapons, while Qatar and Bahrain continue to host major US military bases.<\/p>\n<p>However, growing frustration with the Trump administration has prompted some countries to consider new security arrangements, while others have begun exploring alternative options for their defence and security.<\/p>\n<p>The mutual defence agreement reached last week between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan is also being viewed as significant in this context.<\/p>\n<p>A senior European official described the Mecca defence agreement as a clear signal to Washington, saying it showed President Trump that Gulf countries no longer wanted to rely solely on the United States for their defence and security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington: Gulf allies are becoming increasingly frustrated with US President Donald Trump over what they see as a failure to pursue effective diplomacy to end the US Iran war, with some countries also reconsidering whether to continue hosting American military bases on their territory.
