Tehran: Iran has discovered major new natural gas reserves in the southern province of Fars, with the newly identified gas field estimated to contain more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to an Iranian news agency, the newly discovered field is located in Fars province and contains substantial natural gas reserves.<\/p>\n

Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said around 5.7 trillion cubic feet of gas from the field is considered recoverable.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, the recoverable reserves are equivalent to nearly 15 years of production from one phase of Iran’s massive South Pars gas field, highlighting the scale of the new discovery.<\/p>\n

Paknejad said the newly discovered reserves contain sweet gas, which is expected to reduce development and production costs.<\/p>\n

Sweet gas generally contains lower levels of sulphur and other impurities, making it easier and potentially less expensive to process for commercial use.<\/p>\n

The Iranian oil minister also said significant gas condensate reserves had been identified at the new field.<\/p>\n

According to Paknejad, the condensate reserves could potentially generate billions of dollars in additional revenue for Iran.<\/p>\n

The discovery could further expand Iran’s natural gas reserves and contribute to the country’s future energy production capacity.<\/p>\n
