{"id":23798,"date":"2026-09-15T15:47:30","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T10:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23798"},"modified":"2026-09-15T15:47:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T10:47:30","slug":"court-orders-passports-of-sohail-afridi-23-other-pti-lawmakers-blocked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=23798","title":{"rendered":"Court orders passports of Sohail Afridi, 23 other PTI lawmakers blocked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has ordered the blocking of passports belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and 23 other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the national and provincial assemblies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued the order on an application filed by police in a case registered at Kohsar Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>The court ordered the passports of Asad Qaiser, Shehram Tarakai, Shah Ahad, Sher Ali Arbab, Muhammad Iqbal Afridi and Dr Amjad Ali to be blocked.<\/p>\n<p>The order also covers Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khattak, Zubair Wazir, Omar Ayub, Arshad Umarzai, Zar Alam, Mian Umar and Akhtar Khan.<\/p>\n<p>Humayun Khan, Riaz Khan, Abdul Kabir Khan, Tufail Anjum, Asif Mehsud, Ajab Gul, Muhammad Usman and Babar Saleem Swati were also named in the order.<\/p>\n<p>The court further directed that the passports of Irfan Saleem, Advocate Ali Zaman and Malik Shahab be blocked.<\/p>\n<p>According to the court order, the available record showed that the accused were nominated in the case, while the investigating officer expressed concern that they could leave the country to evade legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>The court said the accused faced serious allegations, including attacks on state institutions and promoting terrorism, and had also failed to appear before the court.<\/p>\n<p>It added that even those who had obtained interim bail had not joined the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The court subsequently accepted the investigating officer&#8217;s request and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to block the passports of the accused until further orders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has ordered the blocking of passports belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and 23 other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the national and provincial assemblies.
