A report submitted to Congress by the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense says that the United States is facing an ammunition shortage due to the ongoing war against Iran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the report, a total of 9.255 trillion Pakistani rupees, equivalent to $33.4 billion, was spent on Operation Epic Fury between February 28 and June 30. Of this amount, 6.179 trillion rupees, or $22.3 billion, was spent solely on ammunition.<\/p>\n

The report said that the extensive use of ammunition reduced the country\u2019s strategic reserves and also exposed obstacles in the industrial system responsible for replenishing those supplies.<\/p>\n

The US military also suffered significant losses during the war. Four F-15 fighter jets were destroyed, while one F-35 fighter jet and seven KC-135 tanker aircraft were damaged. Up to 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones were also destroyed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump dismissed concerns about an ammunition shortage, saying that the United States possessed an almost unlimited supply of medium- and high-grade ammunition and was prepared for any emergency.<\/p>\n

However, Mark Cancian, an expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that US weapons might be sufficient for a war against Iran, but in the event of a war with China, the United States would only be able to maintain an adequate weapons supply for one month.<\/p>\n

The report said that US defense officials had initially denied the shortage.
