The US State Department has approved the sale of 48 advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets and related equipment to Saudi Arabia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the State Department, the proposed $24.3 billion sale includes 48 aircraft, 49 Pratt & Whitney engines, communications equipment, spare parts and other related items.<\/p>\n

In an official statement, the State Department said the proposed sale would strengthen Saudi Arabia\u2019s defence capabilities, improve its ability to address current and future threats, and enhance coordination and cooperation with US forces.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia directly requested the advanced F-35 aircraft from US President Donald Trump at the beginning of 2025.<\/p>\n

Reports emerged in November 2025 that the United States was considering selling 48 F-35 jets to Saudi Arabia. Later that month, President Trump agreed to the sale.<\/p>\n

Israel has consistently opposed the sale of F-35 aircraft to Saudi Arabia, with Israeli officials concerned that the move could weaken Israel\u2019s military superiority in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Israel is currently among 19 countries that either possess F-35 aircraft or have signed agreements to purchase them.<\/p>\n

The F-35 is manufactured by US aerospace company Lockheed Martin. According to the company, it is the world\u2019s most advanced fighter aircraft.<\/p>\n

Because of its stealth and other advanced technologies, the aircraft is difficult to detect on radar. Its capabilities depend on stealth technology, advanced sensors and high-speed computing, allowing it to detect adversaries from long distances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
