He said the federal government had several options and would challenge the law in the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"1181\">Talal Chaudhry said the KP government had not only taken back the inspector general\u2019s powers but had also disrupted the entire police command. He claimed that political interference was clearly visible in the proposed law and accused Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of attempting to place the authority under his political party\u2019s control.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1444\">He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been fighting terrorism for 15 to 20 years, yet its Counter-Terrorism Department was still operating from rented buildings. He questioned why the provincial government continued to hold on to power if it claimed to be so helpless.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1446\" data-end=\"1552\">Regarding road closures in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry said all 125 routes leading to the capital were open.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1876\">The KP cabinet approved the new Police Act a day earlier. Under the law, if the provincial government is dissatisfied with the inspector general\u2019s performance, it may ask the federal government for additional names for his replacement.
