{"id":24015,"date":"2026-10-08T19:14:02","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T14:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=24015"},"modified":"2026-10-08T19:14:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T14:14:02","slug":"regional-tensions-disrupt-oil-supplies-pricing-details-fully-disclosed-says-ali-pervaiz-malik","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakalerts.net\/english\/?p=24015","title":{"rendered":"Regional Tensions Disrupt Oil Supplies; Pricing Details Fully Disclosed, Says Ali Pervaiz Malik"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said the government recognises the difficulties facing the public and transparently communicates the petrol prices resulting from its calculations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Petroleum, chaired by Mustafa Mehmood, the minister said regional tensions had created an oil supply crisis, affecting supplies of petrol, diesel and crude oil.<\/p>\n<p>Malik said diesel had never been this expensive in world history. He acknowledged that people were suffering and said the government understood their hardship.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Naveed Qamar questioned the petroleum levy, describing it as non-tax revenue on which parliamentarians did not vote. He said authority over the levy rested with the executive, which could impose it whenever it chose.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, the petroleum minister said levy targets were set in the budget and could not be changed without the agreement of the relevant multilateral partner.<\/p>\n<p>Malik maintained that the government had concealed nothing and that all details were available on OGRA\u2019s website. Acknowledging the levy, he described it as \u201cRs80 each\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Committee member Moeen Aamir Pirzada raised concerns about the difficulties facing the public and called for oil prices to be reconsidered.<\/p>\n<p>The minister replied that he understood these concerns and also visited his constituency.
