Initial questioning of the main suspect, Nauman, in the Laiba Ejaz suicide case has been completed, with police sources claiming that he allegedly used ChatGPT to impersonate different people and deceive the student with fraudulent documents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to police sources, Nauman worked with the Anti-Corruption Department for 15 years until 2022, when he was dismissed over absenteeism. He later worked as a manager at various insurance companies and joined an insurance firm in Islamabad’s Blue Area in 2025.<\/p>\n

Sources said Nauman first came into contact with Laiba in March 2023 after she applied for an internship at an insurance company. As he needed staff, he contacted her.<\/p>\n

Laiba met Nauman but was unable to join the office because she was giving private tuition. Police sources said Nauman later hired Laiba, her sister and her mother for advertising work related to tuck shops.<\/p>\n

According to sources, a woman named Aiza managed tuck shops and handed them over to Laiba, her sister and mother. As Aiza’s brother lived in the United States, Laiba sought Nauman’s help in approaching him for assistance with a US visa.<\/p>\n

Police sources allege that Nauman told Laiba he could arrange assistance through Aiza’s brother. He then allegedly created another account pretending to be Aiza and began communicating with Laiba.<\/p>\n

Investigators claim the suspect used ChatGPT while impersonating Aiza and her brother and sent documents to Laiba, who initially did not suspect that they were fraudulent.<\/p>\n

Sources said Nauman first gave September 1 as the date for a visa interview, later changing it to September 17 and then September 26. The repeated changes raised Laiba’s suspicions, and she subsequently checked the documents, which were allegedly found to be fake.<\/p>\n

According to police sources, Laiba obtained Rs2.1 million from her father after a plot was sold and also gave jewellery belonging to her stepmother to Nauman. She was reportedly under pressure to return the jewellery and asked Nauman to return it while saying the remaining money could be dealt with later.<\/p>\n

Police sources said Nauman subsequently began avoiding Laiba and eventually cut off contact. Investigators are examining these events and the alleged financial fraud as part of the circumstances preceding her death.<\/p>\n

Police also suspect that Nauman may have defrauded other women. Sources said he had deleted data from his mobile phone before his arrest. Investigators plan to conduct a forensic examination in an effort to recover the deleted data and identify any other potential victims.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
