Islamabad: The Supreme Court has ordered the Lahore High Court to decide on the requests of former Chief Minister of Punjab, Pervez Elahi petitions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan in the Supreme Court conducted a hearing on Pervez Elahi’s bail request.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan remarked, “How can the court proceed against the Constitution? The applicant did not make any illegal demands.”<\/p>\n

Justice Jamal Mandokhel stated, “The court doesn’t understand what you want to achieve? In the right case, giving punishment doesn’t bother us. Do you only have suo-motu powers, not the court?”<\/p>\n

Subsequently, the Supreme Court directed the Lahore High Court to adjourn the hearing of the case for an indefinite period, regarding Pervez Elahi’s requests, until August 21.<\/p>\n

The court stated that if the High Court does not make a decision on August 21, the temporary restraining order for arrest will be considered void.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Lahore High Court had rejected Pervez Elahi’s bail in the interim restraining order, while the former Chief Minister had requested the Supreme Court to declare the decision of July 17 null and void.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
