Minister for Petroleum, Mussadiq Malik, has said that Pakistan will purchase oil from wherever it is cheaper. He made these remarks during an interview with a French news agency.
When asked if Pakistan intends to continue buying Russian oil in the future, the Minister stated that if cheaper oil is available from any source, Pakistan will purchase it.
He added that a decision will be made after the arrival of the first shipment to assess how much of Pakistan’s needs can be met by Russian oil.
On the other hand, according to the news agency, Pakistan, the world’s fifth-most populous country, is in dire straits due to an acute energy crisis. Petroleum accounts for 84 percent of Pakistan’s essential needs, most of which is imported from Arab countries.
