There is a possibility of a reduction in electricity prices for one month. The CPPA has submitted a request to NEPRA for a reduction of 63 paise per unit in electricity prices.
The request from the Central Power Purchasing Agency was submitted under the monthly fuel price adjustment for November. NEPRA will hear the matter regarding the reduction in electricity prices on December 31.
It is worth noting that previously NEPRA has reduced electricity prices four times consecutively under the monthly adjustment. According to the CPPA’s request, the cost of electricity production was 55.76 billion rupees.
Last month, the average electricity production cost was 7 rupees 28 paise per unit. Electricity was produced from LNG at 23 rupees 20 paise per unit, and electricity was imported from Iran at 27 rupees 15 paise per unit.
The cost of electricity production from coal was 14 rupees 92 paise per unit, while electricity produced from nuclear sources cost 1 rupee 73 paise per unit.
