The average prices of petrol and high speed diesel in the international market increased during the last 15 days.
Islamabad: The possibility of petroleum products becoming more expensive in the country for the second consecutive time has been revealed. According to media reports, sources say that the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel are expected to increase by around Rs 4 to 5 per liter from November 16, due to the import premium on petrol and the increase in prices in the international market. The average prices of petrol and high speed diesel in the international market have increased by 1.7 dollars and 4.4 dollars per barrel respectively during the last 15 days.
It has been reported that these days the currency exchange rate has also increased against the rupee, the import premium on petrol is almost one dollar per barrel, during the current fortnight the import premium on petrol has increased from 8.8 dollars to 9.00 dollars. 8 per barrel but for diesel it remained at $5 per barrel, based on the final exchange rate calculation and current tax rates petrol and high speed diesel prices were Rs 4 and 5 per liter respectively. It is likely to be increased by Rs 3 85 paise and Rs 1 35 paise per liter respectively on October 31, the government had hiked the prices of petrol and high speed diesel for the second consecutive time.
Officials said that the average price of petrol in the international market has increased from 75.6 dollars to about 77.2 dollars per barrel, the price of diesel has increased from about 83.6 dollars to 88 dollars per barrel in the last fortnight. In Pakistan, currently the ex-depot price of petrol is Rs 248 38 paise per liter and high speed diesel is Rs 255 14 paise per litre.
