London: Japan has regained its position as the world’s most powerful passport, while Afghanistan holds the title for the weakest passport. UAE has the strongest passport and Pakistan is the fourth weakest country.
This ranking of passport strength is conducted by the Henley Passport Index, which is based on data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is updated every three months. It examines the access a passport holder has to various travel destinations around the world.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index, as of 2023, Afghanistan holds the position of the world’s weakest passport, with a ranking of 109th. Afghan passport holders are only able to travel visa-free to 27 destinations around the world.
Iraq and Syria are ranked 29th and 30th respectively, as their passport holders are able to travel visa-free to 29 and 30 destinations.
