Today is the second day of negotiations between Pakistan and the IMF, the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met the Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb while the officials of the Ministry of Finance asked the IMF to implement reforms for the continuation of economic stability. The delegation led by IMF Mission Chief Nathan Porter reached the Ministry of Finance and had an initial meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. Finance and Revenue Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed the delegation.
Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervez Malik, Governor State Bank, Chairman FBR and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the progress made so far in the implementation of the loan program of 7 billion dollars was discussed, while the economic team informed the IMF delegation about the overall economic situation of the country.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, while briefing the IMF delegation, said that most of the targets for the first quarter of the current financial year had been achieved and reiterated his commitment to complete implementation of the program.
Officials of the Ministry of Finance say that the IMF has assured to continue the process of reforms for the continuation of economic stability, the delegation will stay in Pakistan till November 15.
