Electricity may become more expensive for consumers at a rate of Rs. 5.65 per unit, as a request for a tariff adjustment has been submitted regarding an increase in electricity prices.
Two requests have been submitted by KElectric to the Nepra Authority. The first request pertains to the adjustment for the month of March, proposing an increase of Rs. 5.17 per unit in electricity prices.
The second request, related to the April fuel cost adjustment, suggests an increase of 48 paisas per unit in monthly fuel prices. The Nepra Authority will review KElectric’s request on May 31st, while the possibility of a Rs. 2.01 increase per unit in electricity prices is being considered.
In response to the filed requests, the Nepra Authority has adopted a stance that more than 9 billion and 73 crore units of excess electricity were distributed to the power distribution companies (DISCOs) in April. Additionally, 1 billion and 87 crore units were obtained through hydropower, and 1 billion and 81 crore units were generated through coal.
Gas will generate 1 billion 18 crore units, RLNG will generate 2 billion 41 crore units of electricity, Nepra Authority will hear the fuel adjustment request of CCPA on May 31.
