Nepra (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) has increased the electricity unit price by Rs. 1.60 as part of the monthly fuel adjustment for April.
Nepra granted approval for the request made by the National Power Purchasing Agency, which sought an increase in electricity prices for the monthly fuel adjustment in April.
Nepra has approved an increase of Rs. 1.60 per unit of electricity, which means consumers will have to make additional payments in their bills for the upcoming month.
According to Nepra officials, in April, there was a decrease of 10.23% in electricity generation from water, 16.06% from coal, 12.08% from imported coal, and 3.98% from local coal. Due to the violation of the merit order, an additional burden of Rs. 3.72 billion and 50 million was imposed.
Nepra clarified that the increase will not be applicable to lifeline and K-Electric consumers. The authority will issue a detailed decision later on.
