Karachi: MQM-Pakistan’s leader and former MNA Kanwar Naveed Jamil has passed away at the age of 60 after a prolonged illness. He had been under treatment at a private hospital for several months due to a brain hemorrhage.
Due to deteriorating health over the past few days, Kanwar Naveed Jamil was shifted to a private hospital on Stadium Road.
It is noteworthy that Kanwar Naveed Jamil had previously served as the Mayor of Hyderabad and a parliamentary leader for MQM-Pakistan. He also held the position of Deputy Convener of MQM-Pakistan.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil was born on March 15, 1964, in Karachi. He was first elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1990 and later elected to the provincial assembly in 2002.
In 2005, he resigned from the provincial assembly and was elected as the Mayor of Hyderabad. In 2015, Kanwar Naveed Jamil was once again elected as a member of the National Assembly. He defeated Imran Ismail in the 2015 elections and was re-elected to the provincial assembly in 2018.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and MQM-Pakistan leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Kanwar Naveed Jamil and offered prayers for the elevation of his soul.
