In Sweden and the Netherlands, the burning, tearing and desecration of copies of the Holy Qur’an was expressed with great regret and shock, which was unanimously approved.
Lawmakers were suspended to debate the issue and pass a resolution condemning the desecration of the Holy Quran in 2 European countries so that members of the Senate could discuss the matter.
The resolution was presented by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami, who during the session strongly protested against the permission of the government of Sweden and the Netherlands to burn a copy of the Holy Quran in the name of freedom of expression. Protested.
The resolution stated that attacking someone’s religion under the guise of freedom of expression and hurting the sentiments of millions of Muslims around the world is not acceptable.
