Karachi: The Sindh High Court has sought a response from NEPRA regarding a petition on load shedding during the heatwave.
During the hearing of the petition against load shedding amidst the heatwave, K-Electric submitted its response, stating that the petition filed by the residents of North Vista is not maintainable. K-Electric mentioned that the Supreme Court has already ruled against directly approaching the court. Load shedding will be conducted on feeders where there is a loss.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that K-Electric’s response is irrelevant and holds no significance. The petitioners have already complained to NEPRA, which has not yet made any decision on it. According to K-Electric, the feeder in question falls under the “no losses” category. If the feeder is indeed in the no-losses category, then why is there load shedding? K-Electric is violating its policy, and NEPRA is not taking any action.
The petition further stated that the collusion between NEPRA and K-Electric is causing hardship for the citizens. Residents pay their electricity bills on time but are continuously suffering due to prolonged load shedding. The court has directed NEPRA to submit its response at the next hearing and adjourned the session until August 5th.
