Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured Chinese Vice Premier Ding Zhuizhang that the government is taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens.
According to the report, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met China's Vice Premier Ding Zhui Zhang on the sidelines of the COP29 climate action meeting in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.
In the meeting, the promotion of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China was discussed. On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that China is Pakistan's old friend and a new era of strengthening bilateral relations has begun.
He said that the government is taking all possible steps to ensure the security of Chinese citizens, the government is determined to root out terrorism from the country.
On this occasion, Ding Zhuixiang expressed his wish to expand the scope of China-Pakistan relations to jointly deal with security challenges and for the development and prosperity of the people of both countries.
Apart from this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on this occasion both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthen strategic partnership in various fields including economic and defense cooperation as well as public and cultural relations.
Shahbaz Sharif, while congratulating Ilham Aliyev on the successful holding of the summit, appreciated the vision and determination of the President of Azerbaijan to increase international cooperation to deal with the problems caused by climate change.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is among the most affected countries due to climate change. Assured his country's commitment to work with Azerbaijan and the international community.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Pakistan after completing a three-day visit to Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's Justice Minister Farid Ahmadov bid farewell to the Prime Minister.
It should be noted that the annual summit of the United Nations regarding climate change started 2 days ago in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in which during the past year, developing countries have been given funds to deal with the situation caused by climate disasters. Delegates from nearly 200 countries are attending the two-week COP29 forum, where UN climate chief Simon Steele announced a new global climate finance target in his opening address.
The conference is taking place at a time when there are warnings that record temperatures are expected to hit 2024 and emergency talks are essential for poor countries to deal with climate impacts.
Pakistan is among the top 10 countries most vulnerable to climate change, facing unprecedented floods, heavy monsoon rains, devastating heat waves and rapid melting of glaciers.
