Karachi: Polling for the by-elections is going on in various districts of Sindh including Karachi. Strict security arrangements have been made on this occasion.
According to the details, the polling process for the Karachi by-election is going on, the polling will continue from 8 am to 5 pm without any break.
Ten from Karachi, five from Hyderabad, four from Nawabshah and Skrand, two from Sukkur and Tando Mohammad Khan. By-elections are being held on one seat each of Tandwalhiyar and Ghotki.
Polling is going on for the seats of 4 Chairman, 2 Vice Chairman and 4 Ward Councilors in Karachi.
In South District UC 13 President Clifton Galaxy, 7 candidates are contesting for the election of Chairman, in Central District UC 5 Gulberg, 6 candidates are contesting for the election of Vice Chairman.
8 candidates for the election of Chairman in Central District UC 7 Liaquatabad and General Ward No. 4 in Kemari District UC 10 Municipality. There are 5 candidates competing.
Apart from this, 5 candidates for the election of chairman in district Meler UC 9, 5 candidates for the election of general ward no. There are 7 candidates in the field for the election of General Ward No. 1 in UC7 Korangi.
There is competition between 12 candidates for the election of Chairman in District Korangi UC7 Model Colony and 8 candidates for the election of Vice Chairman in District Korangi UC 6 Landhi.
Out of 167 polling stations in the city, 136 polling stations have been classified as highly sensitive, 26 as sensitive and 5 as normal.
CCTV cameras have been installed at highly sensitive polling stations while 16 to 18 personnel have been deployed at the stations and 8 to 12 police personnel have been deployed at sensitive polling stations.
There are contests on five seats of four union councils in Hyderabad, by-elections are being held on two local body seats in Sukkur, while voting is taking place on four seats in Tehsil Nawabshah and Skarund of Shaheed Benazirabad district.
In Ghotki, there will be a contest for the chairman's seat in the union council Kumum Shaheed of Obaro, polling is going on for the general council seat in the ward number two of the union council Landhi in Tandwalayar, while in Jacobabad there will be a by-election in the ward number six of the municipal committee.
