Pakistan Army’s spokesperson Major General Ahmed Sharif has stated that trials of 102 miscreants are underway in military courts, and the process will continue.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the spokesperson emphasized that the Army ensures complete harmony and transparency in its decision-making. The incident of May 9 will not be forgotten, and no individuals involved can be granted amnesty. All implicated individuals will be punished according to the laws of Pakistan and the constitution.
He further stated that those who attempt to obstruct the progress of these proceedings will be dealt with firmly. The Army has successfully completed its phase of self-accountability in accordance with its established practices.
The Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that trials of 102 suspects are underway in military courts, and the process will continue. The military conducts self-accountability without any discrimination.
He mentioned that a case regarding military courts is currently being heard in the Supreme Court. Currently, 17 standing courts are functioning throughout the country. Military courts were in existence and operational prior to May 9; the Supreme Court has transferred these cases to military courts in accordance with evidence and the law.
The Army spokesperson stated that after reviewing the evidence, the superior courts, in accordance with the law, have referred these cases to military courts. All accused individuals have full legal rights, including the right to appeal.
He clarified that the Army Act is a part of the law and the constitution for several decades.
