Islamabad – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed to provide relief of PKR 15 billion to electricity consumers in the form of electricity bill waivers.
According to the details, sources say that after being satisfied with the performance of the FBR, the IMF approved a relief of 15 billion rupees in electricity bills.
The FBR played a crucial role in securing this relief in electricity bills. In just two months, the FBR collected an additional PKR 20 billion in taxes. Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Finance Minister, and Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, also played a significant role in this endeavor.
The IMF has granted approval for a relief of PKR 3 to 4 to consumers using up to 200 units of electricity. Additionally, relief will be provided for delayed payments by consumers using up to 200 units. However, it’s important to note that consumers using up to 400 units of electricity will not be eligible for this relief.
The federal cabinet will provide final approval for these payments and relief. It’s worth noting that this relief in electricity bills will only apply to the bills of August.
According to sources, approximately 64% of consumers using up to 200 units of electricity will benefit from this relief, and there will be no penalty for delayed payments.
