Islamabad Ministry of Energy has proposed shutting down shops and businesses across the country during Western hours to control the electricity crisis.
According to Ministry of Energy sources, the recommendation could be implemented from October to February, and consultations have been initiated with all chambers of federation and trader organizations to implement this recommendation.
It is said that all four provincial governments will be asked to act on this recommendation, while legislation is also being drafted to control the electricity crisis.
According to sources, this move is expected to save more than 1500 megawatts of electricity daily.
