Lahore High Court Justice Shahbaz Rizvi has requested responses from the parties involved in a petition seeking to prevent any further arrests of PTI worker Sanam Javed in any new cases.
The petition was filed by Sanam Javed’s father, Javed Iqbal, and heard by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi as an objection. Advocate Abuzar Salman Niazi represented the petitioner in court.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Sanam Javed has been in custody for the past 400 days. In response, Justice Shahbaz Rizvi inquired why the petition was not filed directly by Sanam Javed herself.
Advocate Abuzar Salman Niazi explained that it was not a simple matter, as Sanam Javed is in custody and her place of detention is frequently changed, sometimes being held in Sargodha and other times in Mianwali.
Subsequently, the High Court directed that an order be provided regarding Sanam Javed’s detention to prevent any further arrests in new cases. The court took notice of the fact that there has been no access to Sanam Javed and sought responses from the parties regarding this issue. The hearing was adjourned until the next day.
