The Meteorological Department has forecasted an unusual heatwave, predicting that Karachi’s weather will remain hot and humid over the next three days. The temperature is expected to reach between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius during the day until tomorrow.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz mentioned that the partial heatwave effects in Karachi are expected to diminish starting the day after tomorrow. From Thursday onwards, the weather is likely to remain just hot and humid.
He explained that the unusual heat is due to the western disturbance that recently approached Pakistan. The hot and dry winds following the western disturbance are causing the increase in temperature. As the system moves north, the direction of the winds is changing, and the effects of this system are expected to subside within the next 36 hours.
The Chief Meteorologist also stated that monsoon rains are expected in Karachi starting from the first week of July.
On the other hand, temperatures in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Badin are expected to range between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in Jacobabad, Dadu, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, and Shaheed Benazirabad, the temperature is expected to range between 46 to 48 degrees Celsius.
In Tharparkar and Umerkot, there is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds this evening or night.
