On the occasion of Arbaeen-e-Imam Hussain, more than two million pilgrims gathered in the holy city of Karbala in Iraq, expressing solidarity with the Palestinians.
According to the international news agency Al Jazeera, the number of pilgrims to Arbaeen-e-Imam Hussain this year has peaked. The total number of pilgrims to Arbaeen was 2 crore 14 lakh 80 thousand 620.
According to media reports, this total number includes 3.5 million Iranian visitors. This year, many pilgrims also showed solidarity by hoisting the Palestinian flag at Imam Hussain’s shrine in Karbala.
It should be noted that Arbaeen, which means 40 in Arabic, is celebrated as the martyrdom of Karbala. In which the memory of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, and the army of 72 who were martyred with him are commemorated.
Also, keep in mind that Arbaeen Imam Hussain is considered to be the largest religious gathering in the world.
