The figures for the damage caused to the country’s economy by the shutdown of the Internet have been revealed.
According to the German organization that collects the data, the economy of Pakistan had to suffer a loss of 65 billion rupees in 2023 due to the internet shutdown.
The total duration of internet outage was 259 hours, affecting 8.3 million Pakistanis.
Last year, India was at the top of the world in internet shutdowns where 47 crore users were affected, India has the fourth place in the world in internet shutdowns, and the financial loss to the Indian economy is estimated at 8 billion rupees.

In terms of financial loss due to the internet shutdown, Russia is on the top list where internet service was down for 1350 hours due to which the financial loss has been estimated at 4 billion dollars, affecting 113 million users.
