Islamabad: Federal Minister for Defense, Khawaja Asif, has proposed a recommendation by the Federal Minister for Law to form a committee comprising members of the National Assembly. This committee would assess the conduct of the Chief Justice and refer the matter to the Supreme Judicial Council under Article 209, along with evidence of misconduct, in order to set an example that no one can tamper with the constitution of Pakistan in the future.
During his address in the National Assembly, Khawaja Asif stated that Parliament should refer the Supreme Judicial Council to a reference; it is time for Parliament to assert its role under the constitution. A three-member bench is not expected to deliver justice.
This role has been greatly undermined. However, today, this House must fulfill its historic role. Criticizing the Chief Justice of Pakistan, he said that the administration of justice in the country has been turned into a mockery.
What kind of justice are you? Your job is to dispense justice. In Pakistan’s 75-year history, justice has never been so humiliated as it is now.
