Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the House will react if there is bloodshed on the powers of the Parliament. He said that the judiciary cannot dictate terms to Parliament.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Khawaja Asif expressed that the Supreme Court has taken notice of an Act of Parliament, and if the interests collide, justice should not be compromised. We desire that this House respects the judiciary.
Khawaja Asif said that the judiciary cannot dictate terms to Parliament. The Constitution has given birth to Parliament, not the other way around. The case was still under process when it was taken notice of and recommendations were made to exercise powers in the Supreme Court. Justice should prevail in this matter, as prolonged situations like these are detrimental to Pakistan’s constitutional status.
He mentioned that we are being told not to dictate terms, but the implementation of the Supreme Court’s decisions also lies on the person who filed a request in the High Court and is involved in the Adiala Commission, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court formed the bench.
