Jamaat-e-Islami demanded a reduction in the price of petrol by at least Rs 50 per litre.
Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh has called the marginal reduction in petrol prices insufficient and demanded a reduction of at least Rs 50 per litre and said that the benefit of the reduction in petrol prices should be passed on to the people by reducing the prices of transport fares and daily necessities.
Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh General Secretary Kashif Saeed Sheikh has said in a statement that the existence of people has been made difficult even before the implementation of expensive electricity and cruel taxes.
Despite the continuous reduction in the prices of petroleum products in the global markets and even though there is a four-fold reduction, the benefits are not being passed on to the people.
When there is even a slight increase in the price of petrol, the transport mafia and traders drive up the prices, but when the prices are low, they are not ready to act.
He demanded that the government should activate the price control committees to rein in the mafias and take effective and corruption-free measures to bring down the petrol prices so that inflation can be reduced and the people can breathe a sigh of relief.
