The Supreme Court has asked for details of the amount recovered by NAB so far in the NAB reference case against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Under the leadership of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court heard the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s request against the NAB reference.
The court asked NAB to provide details of the amount recovered so far, where the money went, how much money was collected from which provinces and federal government, and other related information.
The court also ordered the institutions, banks, and the public to provide details of the recovered amount. NAB prosecutor stated that the government or institutions receive the recovered amount after verification, to which the Chief Justice remarked that all details should be gathered and evaluated at the next hearing.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial stated that it is NAB’s responsibility to prove untraceable assets and income beyond known means of income. NAB must also provide proof of financial transactions related to untraceable income, according to NAB’s allegations.
Justice Ejaz ul Hassan stated that cases are initiated to prove the record of financial transactions related to anonymous properties. According to NAB law, only spouses, relatives, or employees can own anonymous properties. Instead of expanding the scope of the law, NAB has limited it, and prosecution cannot prove ownership of anonymous properties until the affected party provides evidence.
