Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that it is not known whether the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will face punishment before or after the upcoming elections.
During an informal conversation with journalists, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that it is premature to comment on the punishment or disqualification of the PTI Chairman. No action should be taken against him in the events of May 9 in which he was not involved.
Regarding the general elections, Rana Sanaullah emphasized that everyone should come to a consensus for conducting a fresh population census. All political parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will contest elections on their respective platforms, and there will be no electoral alliance with any political party.
He mentioned that in Punjab, there are 100 seats in the National Assembly and 200 seats in the Provincial Assembly. The formal announcement of Nawaz Sharif’s return will be made; however, the final date is yet to be confirmed.
Regarding the allegations against an additional session judge, Rana Sanaullah clarified that the same charges apply to the judges of the Supreme Court and High Court. The decision has to be made by the judiciary, and they need to approach the Supreme Court to recover the 190 million pounds. Presently, there is little hope that their appeal will be accepted.
Regarding terrorist activities, he said that Afghanistan’s territory is used, and it is up to the Afghan government to prevent or take action against it. It is not the responsibility or authority of Pakistan to stop it.
Regarding the missing journalist Imran Riaz, he said that Allah knows best where Imran Riaz is, his family has not contacted us, we are ready to help if the family contacts us.
