Amidst the relentless increase in extreme heat across Karachi and the rest of the country, medical experts have issued a stark warning to the public.
Global warming has impacted Pakistan, like the rest of the world, and record-breaking heat is being experienced across every inch of the nation, including Karachi.
According to ARY News, with the rising intensity of heat, medical experts have warned citizens about the potential spread of various infections.
Medical professionals indicate that with the increase in temperature, skin diseases, and other infections are becoming more prevalent. Conditions such as heat rash, itching, ringworm, and impetigo are on the rise.
At Jinnah Hospital Karachi’s outpatient department, between 100 to 150 cases of skin diseases are reported daily. There is also an increase in cases of sunburn and acne due to the sun’s rays.
Experts advise citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat. If going outside is unavoidable, they recommend covering the head and wearing light-colored, loose clothing.
Citizens are also advised to stay protected from the sun, especially from 11 AM to 4 PM, to avoid the harmful effects of the intense sunlight.
