There has been a rapid increase in TB cases recorded in Karachi.
Consultant Physician at Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Umar Sultan, stated that for the past six months, 3 out of every 4 TB tests have been coming back positive. In contrast, previously, only one out of four tests was positive.
According to Dr. Umar Sultan, most TB cases are reported in industrial areas.
He further mentioned that air pollution is a major cause of the spread of TB, and not completing the full course of medication is also contributing to the spread of the disease.
