The Lahore High Court has issued a restraining order, bringing a sudden halt to the elections of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Justice Anwar Hussain conducted the hearing of the case, where the counsel for the petitioner, Malik Zualfikar, presented arguments and maintained that the PCB Election Commissioner removed the Board of Governors and formed a new one.
The request stated that the act of forming a new Board of Governors itself is unconstitutional, and until a court decision is reached, the order to halt the PCB elections should be issued.
After hearing the counsel’s arguments, Lahore High Court issued a restraining order, blocking the election of the Chairman of PCB, and also issued notices to the federal government, PCB Election Commissioner, and the involved parties.
It should be noted that the selection of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was suspended yesterday based on the orders of the Balochistan High Court. The PCB had postponed the meeting scheduled in Lahore on Tuesday for the election of the new Chairman. The Board had stated that the meeting for the election of the Chairman was suspended as per the orders of the Balochistan High Court.
