The meeting between Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and the delegation from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been confirmed.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s President, Kashif Anwar, said that during the meeting with the delegation, the Army Chief shed light on the important role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, reassuring the traders that measures would be taken to facilitate investments and promote ease of doing business.
Kashif Anwar stated that General Asim Munir also assured traders that Money Exchange would be brought under the tax net, and transparency would be promoted in interbank rates for dollar exchange transactions.
uring the meeting, it was disclosed that the Army Chief emphasized the capacity to attract investments of up to $100 billion from countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. He also revealed the formation of task forces focusing on economic affairs and various sectors to strengthen economic decision-making.
The President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce further mentioned that during the meeting, the delegation of traders proposed a reduction in income and sales tax rates on electricity bills to the Army Chief. They also brought up practical measures for the collection of fuel adjustment charges and suggested that their collection from consumers be deferred during the winter months to alleviate financial pressure on consumers.
Kashif Anwar mentioned that during the meeting, traders requested General Asim Munir to exert influence on controlling the prices of the American dollar in the interbank and open markets.
